I am married to my husband and best friend, David Houle. We have two adult children, Adam and Emily. We moved to Fridley four years ago and are now empty nesters with a “fur baby” cat named Opie. We love our new community and look forward to living our best years here.
I grew up in Coon Rapids, MN and graduated from Coon Rapids Senior High. For all of my life, my family has been in music, playing guitar or piano, and singing in harmony. I love our times getting together, singing songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
I’m also a big sports fan, and we encouraged our children to be active in athletics. My son played baseball in high school and my daughter was a competitive swimmer and still holds several records at the Osseo and Park Center pools. I truly believe that athletics and the arts are incredibly valuable in building character, self-esteem, an appreciation for God’s creation, and lasting friendships.
My faith is also very important to me. My husband and I are active members of Substance Church in Spring Lake Park. We love our church family!
Professionally, I am a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and Risk Management Consultant. I work for a national CPA firm, working with clients to ensure their financial statements are accurate and their business processes are well controlled. My clients range from very large SEC (Security and Exchange Commission) filers to small non-profit organizations.
For the past 30 years, I have been helping clients find ways to prevent fraud, improve operations, secure assets, and maintain a good reputation.
Our school district's budget is stretched thin, and we need to find ways to ensure all students have the resources they need to succeed. With total revenues in excess of $58M, I will scrutinize the budget and bring my extensive experience in finance to the board to find creative ways to meet our student’s needs.
